Foods That Teens Should Avoid

Imagine you are at a restaurant and the waiter asks, "dessert?" He gives you the choice of triple chocolate layered fudge filled cake ala mode with whipped cream, or a fresh fruit cup. Which one do you choose? During your teenage years, there are foods you should try to avoid while you're still growing, even if they really good. Even if it is just a "little," eating unhealthy will turn into unhealthy habits during adulthood. The main foods you should avoid are caffeine, soda, chips, fried foods, canned/boxed foods, fast foods and generally anything with high saturated fat.
Have a semester final coming up? The first thing you might do would be go out to Starbucks with your friends and load up on the caffeine, right? Well, from now on after reading this, you should try to avoid caffeine for many health reasons. As a diuretic and stimulant of the nervous system, too much caffeine has many negative side effects that will not earn you an "A" for the final. Caffeine can make you anxious, restless, and make it difficult for you to focus, only after having just 3 milligrams of caffeine per kilogram of your body weight. Caffeine may also cause dehydration and an upset stomach. Keep in mind that not only coffee has caffeine, but so does soda, energy drinks, and some other juices.

On the same note, soda should especially be limited. Some of these drinks contain caffeine, and contains about 250 calories, most are which from high fructose corn syrup.

Canned and boxed food should also be avoided because they are also full of saturated fat, sodium and harmful chemicals.

The main thing that all teens should avoid are chips and fast food. They are loaded with saturated fat and chemically-processed ingredients, which raises cholesterol level and are high in calories. They also may contain food-borne illnesses and are higher in salt and sugar while lower in nutrients like fiber. Did you know? A value meal at a fast-food restaurant can contain as many calories that an average person eats a day. It is easier during teenage years to put on weight id consuming fast food regularly.
